Ranchera and Norteño have always known how to talk about love with their hands in the dough. No genre in the Latin American repertoire has narrated desire with more frankness or more pain — from the great boleros of Cuco Sánchez to the most modern confessions of contemporary Regional Mexicano. Pedro Habano arrives on that ground with "Tres Palomas" and does exactly what the genre asks: tell the truth, even when it costs.

The truth here is so human it almost hurts for being obvious: the narrator loves three women at once, knows them deeply, values in each something the others don't have — and can't choose. It's not bravado. It's not conquest. It's the intimate portrait of someone who ran out of map in the most complicated territory there is: the heart.

Habano draws them with a miniaturist's precision. The first has class and a drive for work — ambitious, sometimes with an eye on what he carries in his pocket, but that doesn't take away her wish to fly. The second is spring in person: the youngest, the most festive, the most loyal — "ella es la más fiel, mi lindo clavel" (she is the most faithful, my lovely carnation) — with a difficult past that makes her more, not less. The third speaks little. And in that silence she says everything. She keeps his secrets. In three verses, the narrator builds three complete worlds and confesses that he needs all three.

"Son tres palomas, tres aromas, y un anillo el cual yo debo entregar" (They are three doves, three aromas, and a ring I must hand over) — a one-line image that sums up the oldest problem in the world.

The chorus is where the song decides to be completely honest: "No sé con cuál yo me debo quedar / a las tres les digo que las quiero / y con las tres yo me quiero quedar" (I don't know which one I should stay with / I tell all three that I love them / and with all three I want to stay). There is no resolution. No happy ending, no tragic one. There is a man who wants what he can't have all together, and who has the courage — or the naïveté, depending on how you look at it — to sing it instead of keeping quiet. In a genre that historically preferred the exaltation of the macho or the lament of the wounded, that uncomfortable honesty is refreshing.

David Rivas's production — "Dr. Davinchi," the producer who has built every brick of Pedro Habano's sound — places the track firmly in the Regional Mexicano universe without sacrificing the emotional texture the lyrics demand. The guitars open up the space, the rhythm breathes, and the structure lets Habano's voice carry the weight that belongs to it. The additional voice of Valentina Velasquez — a permanent collaborator on the project — adds a dimension few songs about three women would have the audacity to include: a female voice that doesn't judge, but accompanies. The nuance changes everything.

"Tres Palomas" arrives as the latest chapter in a catalog that has crossed champeta, bachata, corrido bélico, Cumbia Villera and merengue without losing coherence or honesty. With over 300,000 followers on Spotify, TikTok, Instagram (@pedrohabano) and YouTube — and an international audience led by Colombia and Mexico — Pedro Habano keeps showing that the category that best defines him is not a genre but an attitude: that of someone who says what he feels, in the rhythm that best holds it, and lets the audience decide whether they identify. With "Tres Palomas," the audience will. Because we have all held that ring in our hand without knowing whom to give it to. The official video is on YouTube.
